El Nido House / Taller Estilo Arquitectura

Text description provided by the architects. The concept and name of the project El Nido stands for nest and comes from the Latin word nidus. The term refers to the shelter that birds build with branches, straws and other elements. Just as they make their nests, the goal of this house was to achieve a refuge to be inhabited and enjoyed without major complications, creating a project of great simplicity yet of great spatial richness by using a minimal and simple palette of materials. © Tamara Uribe Casa El Nido is built on a lot of 4.70 x 26.00 meters as a response to the needs of the users to have a space where experiences and ideas are generated, weaving together a pre-existing building with a completely new one, creating a suture with an empty space, giving the new building the prominence as a great protective envelope for the inhabitants.

Colorines House / Moctezuma Estudio de Arquitectura

© Rafael Cortes Casas Text description provided by the architects. I believe that this project handles two singularities. One of them is the spatial dimension, on which many arguments can be made. The photographs that accompany this document can give a good idea of the spatial atmosphere of the project. The other singularity is located in the dimension of the social, where I think the most relevant part of this project lays. © Rafael Cortes Casas To better understand the Casa Estudio Colorines project, one has to know something about the territory in which it is established. Located in the city of Puebla, Mexico, there is a housing complex project that began in 1958 under the name of the Jardines de San Manuel subdivision. This polygon represents one of the first urban movements where the compact city model changes for a desegregated one, giving rise to the periphery of the city.

Headquarters of Doctors Without Borders in Barcelona / Battle i Roig Arquitectura

© Antonio Navarro Wijkmark Text description provided by the architects. The proposed implementation of the Corporate Headquarters of Doctors Without Borders completed in 2019 in Barcelona transforms an existing building located in 22@ promoting functional, biophilic spaces designed for people. The existing building was an industrial building with a ground floor, four standard floors and a rooftop that had undergone different transformations throughout its useful life. © Antonio Navarro Wijkmark The building occupies almost the entire surface of the plot, generating very deep spaces with little natural lighting and ventilation, while the rooftop was used exclusively for installations. The inclusion of a green and staggered courtyard was proposed, improving the lighting and ventilation conditions of the interior spaces. The staggered section optimizes the entry of light on all floors and creates terraces that extend the working areas with new outdoor meeting and gathering space
