Mary Close said the dogs she knows best are usually the ones with some behavioral quirks.
Close, a volunteer coordinator with the Animal Protective League in Springfield, said that was the case with Spud, a hound mix, who had been anxious for weeks since coming to the APL some time back. It wasn t until after being out in a play group, running around with Sii, that (Spud) finally took a deep breath and relaxed, Close said. So I literally got to see Sii helping other homeless dogs around him. Sii was a very, very special dog.
About 75 people gathered at APL, 1001 Taintor Road, Saturday for a vigil for Sii, a pitbull mix, who was recently found dead in a residence in the 1200 block of East Ash Street.
