Lions Park Aquatic center traffic study discussed at council meeting

View Comments A traffic study conducted surrounding Lions Park, the proposed location of the upcoming Aim High Big Sky aquatic and recreation center, was the main topic of conversation during Neighborhood Council Nine’s meeting this week. The Lions Park Traffic Analysis concluded that the existing street network surrounding the park can accommodate the traffic that would be generated by the proposed development and that congestion at 29th Street South and 10th Avenue South is “dependent upon driver behavior, as sufficient alternative routes exist.” Council members expressed disappointment at the absence of community members at the meeting, as several neighbors have been very vocal about the impact of traffic in the neighborhood if the aquatic center were built in Lions Park.
