TAMPA â The show must go on, a Hillsborough Commission majority decided Wednesday.
In a 5-2 vote, the commission awarded a $7.3 million construction contract for a 20,000-square-foot performing arts center in New Tampa, a project first proposed in 2004.

TAMPA, Fla. â Billions of gallons of treated water are lost every year in Tampa, and it s driving up customers water bills.
The city is now working to stop those losses, but it may take years to see major improvements.
Tampa s drinking water comes from the Hillsborough River. It is filtered, pumped into reservoirs, treated with chemicals then sent through a network of underground pipes serving 145,000 residential and commercial customers.

TAMPA, Fla. â Walk Bike Tampa, a local nonprofit dedicated to making Tampa s streets safe for pedestrians and bicyclists, is calling on the Tampa City Council to update a section of city code, to ensure new sidewalks are added when new homes and other buildings are built.
They say the current city code provides too many exemptions, which has left the city with over a thousand miles of sidewalk gaps.
So today, they re working with the council on a sidewalk workshop to fix the issue.
