(WMBF) - A 15-year-old from North Carolina drowned at Myrtle Beach resort earlier this month, according to officials. Horry County Cheif Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said the incident happened on July 10, when 15-year-old Ma Duong, of Archdale, North Carolina, left his hotel room to go swimming. When he had not returned later in the evening, his family went to look for him. Unable to find him, they later called the police. Police searched the area for several hours, but Duong wasn’t found until the following morning in the pool of the Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort.

15-year-old drowns in Myrtle Beach hotel pool, coroner confirms © Provided by WPDE Myrtle Beach/Florence A 15-year-old North Carolina boy drowned at a Myrtle Beach hotel on July 10, according to deputy coroner Tamara Willard. The victim is identified as Ma Duong, Willard said. The coroner s report said that Duong left his room at the Sea Mist Hotel to go swimming around 6 p.m. and when he didn t return by 9:30 p.m., his family went to look for him. When his family could not find him, they called the police. Police searched the entire area for several hours but he was not found until 11 a.m. the following morning in the pool of the Sea Mist.
