THE green light given to sports and recreational activities conducted in open areas was a relief to many.
However, with the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley, regulars are choosing to avoid public spaces like recreational parks.
StarMetro visited Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara and Taman Rimba Kiara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.
Although people could be seen at both public parks, the number was a far cry from the pre-movement control order days.
At around 8am, police arrived at the entrance of Taman Persekutuan to monitor adherence to the standard operating procedure.
A Common Flameback Woodpecker which the writer saw at Taman Rimba Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
As a greenhorn in birding, my interest to learn more about the avian species is kept piqued by my good friend Dr Samuel Ong (Sam), a keen, knowledgeable and enthusiastic birder who keeps sending me pictures of birds that he photographs regularly.
On March 30, Sam sent me a picture of a Lineated Barbet in flight. It was beautiful! Sam went on to tell me that the picture, as well as others, were taken at Taman Rimba Kiara (in KL), where the Barbet’s nest in a tree trunk was being monitored by birders, as the female made periodic visits to feed its newly hatched chick.
Autobiographical elements illuminate the connection between the writer’s past experiences and his belief in certain things. It is for the reader to be convinced or otherwise.
I JUST finished reading a remarkable book, written by a former holder of one of Malaysia’s constitutional offices with responsibility in shaping the law. Having served in the legal arena for many decades, he left the role under circumstances that have impacted the evolution of law and politics in our country.
The book was published a year after the author’s departure from office, and in it, he shares his perspective of national events, recounting conversations with the Prime Minister, the degree of infighting among politicians of the same party and coalition, and the extent of disagreement within the legal profession. He even reveals his interactions with the royal institution, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
