JOHOR BARU: More than RM1mil worth of fireworks and contraband cigarettes have been confiscated by the General Operations Force (GOF) in just one day at three districts in Johor.
GOF Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the items were seized between 10am and 12.30pm on Friday (May 7) in Pasir Gudang, Muar and Iskandar Puteri.
“In the first incident, we were able to seize some 157 boxes of various fireworks worth about RM115,318 in a house at Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang. Also seized was a vehicle, which was believed to have been used by the syndicate to distribute the goods.

JOHOR BAHRU: A senior citizen was among five men arrested for allegedly smuggling firecrackers and cigarettes worth more than RM1 million in Pasir Gudang, Muar and Johor Bahru yesterday.
General Operations Force (GOF) 5th Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said police believe they have crippled a firecrackers and smuggled cigarettes distribution network with the seizure and arrest of the suspects, aged 33 to 64.
In the first raid at 10am, GOF seized 157 boxes of fireworks and a Nissan Terrano car, worth a total of RM115,318, from a premises in Jalan Perjiranan, Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang, and arrested two individuals aged 39 and 42.

JOHOR BARU: Inspections on those ordered to home quarantine will be conducted by teams, which include police personnel, as soon as their details are obtained from the Health Ministry, says Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The spot checks start from today and will involve 1,500 police, Health Department and Rela personnel.
“We have divided them into three-man teams, each led by a police inspector who will be in charge of issuing compounds to violators.
“We are still awaiting the list of patients from the Health Ministry so that we can check on them to ensure they are at home and not outside, ” he said after visiting the Westlite workers’ hostel in Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang, yesterday.
JOHOR BARU: An unemployed man brought along his four-year-old son as he stole a car, kidnapped a homeless woman, and robbed two foreign workers around here and Pasir Gudang.
The father then held his autistic son hostage at knife-point before the boy was rescued by police at around 10.30pm on Tuesday (Dec 22).

The incident started at about 12.10am on Tuesday when the suspect stole a Proton Wira belonging to a 45-year-old Indonesian man, parked near a restaurant in Taman Air Biru.
