The Hallmark Authority Explains Fate of Seized Gold

The Hallmark Authority has mulls over auctioning gold and precious metal seized throughout 2021.
Abdullah Mon5tseer, Head of the Hallmark Authority, said that counting of all notifications on seizing gold in all forms crafts, alloys and pounds to put them under the hammer before the end of the current year after auctions were have been stopped since 2016.
It is worth mentioning that the authority got about EGP 285.870 million over the auction held in October 2016 after selling 300 kg gold and 600 kg silver.
Those quantities were seized by inspectors of the Hallmark Authority and detectives of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade over campaigns on markets and Customs in addition to confiscated quantities after final verdicts.
The syndicate also comprises workers of workshops of gold, wholesalers, retailers of gold. George Michel, Head of the Syndical Committee of Gold and Jewelry Industry and Trading at the Union of Egypt Workers, said that the syndicate has implemented some 150 contracts with various service presenters such as hospitals, pharmacies, medical testing laboratories, malls to get services to the syndicate’s members at suitable prices. Michel added that the syndicate seeks to expanding the participation of the merchants and craftsmen in the local and international exhibitions under the umbrella of the syndicate in addition to provide data to open new markets of exports and imports and presenting economic information and international prices.
