Steven Smith Awarded Tennessee Historical Commission Special Commendation For His Books Thursday, May 13, 2021
The Tennessee Historical Commission has announced winners of this year’s annual Certificate of Merit competition. These awards are presented each May during National Preservation Month. The Commissioners’ Special Commendation category went to Steven Smith in Soddy Daisy, for authoring four books.
Since 1975, THC’s Certificate of Merit Program has recognized exemplary work by individuals, groups, organizations, corporations, or governmental entities to further promote historic preservation or the study of history in Tennessee. Nominations are solicited from the public in December of the preceding year and judged by category.
One mom in Wisconsin was given a shocking Mother s Day gift this year, according to officials.
Police in Lone Rock, Wisconsin, were called to a disturbance Sunday in which 22-year-old Andrew Peterson got into an argument with his mom when he couldn t find his cellphone.
The argument escalated to the point where Peterson tased his mom in the neck, and left the property with his 20-year-old girlfriend and their child.
It didn t take long for officers to locate Peterson, who admitted to using an electronic weapon.on his mother on Mother’s Day, according
to the report. Colleen Parker, Peterson s girlfriend, admitted to punching the victim in the face during a separate confrontation on Thursday.

A Wisconsin mom’s Mother’s Day took a shocking turn after her son used a Taser on her while searching for his missing phone, authorities said.
The 43-year-old woman, of Lone Rock, called police just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday to report that she had been tased in the neck by her son, 22-year-old Andrew C. Peterson, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
She said that her son, his girlfriend, Colleen Parker, and their young child had been living with her for the past few months when the domestic disturbance happened.
