PUNE: Pimpri Chinchwad Police in Pune district has arrested the son of NCP MLA Anna Bansode in a case of attempt to murder and kidnapping, an official said on Thursday.
The case was registered on a complaint by Tanaji Pawar, manager at a solid waste management firm who himself was arrested for allegedly opening fire on the premises of the Pimpri MLA s office on May 12.

MLA from the Pimpri Assembly constituency. The incident took place around 2 pm on Tuesday in the Mohan Nagar area of Chinchwad, when Tanaji Pawar came to Bansode’s office with two other men. After a disagreement with Bansode, Pawar fired two rounds, and fortunately no one was injured in the incident.
After the firing incident, the party workers of MLA Bansode beat up Pawar and handed him over to the police.
According to information shared by the police, “The suspect, named Tanaji Pawar, has been detained. Pawar came to Anna Bansode’s office with two of his companions, and he met Bansode to enquire about the job for the people who had accompanied him. Instead, all the employees were asked to mark their attendance in the attendance register (as done prior to the launch of the biometric system) during this time. Wakad police on Sunday booked AG Enviro Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, an agency appointed by
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (
PCMC) for door-to-door collection of waste in its limits, as well as eight of its employees, on charges of cheating.
The contractual firm and its staffers were found collecting garbage from private players violating the norms of agreement with the local body and charging the latter for collection of this increased amount of waste along with regular citizens’ trash.
