Telegram v7.7 update brings Payments 2.0, Scheduled Voice Chats and more
Telegram has released a new update to their messaging app, bringing the version number to v7.7. With it, Telegram is introducing their Payments 2.0 feature, adding the ability to schedule voice chats and set reminders, new web versions and more.
Telegram has supported payments on their platform for a long time now. They have now upgraded the feature with support for credit card payments, via 8 third party payment providers, namely Stripe, Yandex.Money, Sberbank, Tranzzo, Payme, CLICK, LiqPay, ECOMMPAY. Telegram also added the ability for users to tip businesses when making payments.
Telegram has added an auto-delete feature for messages, widgets, expiring invite links, and unlimited members to the app. The update also improves chat importing experience and reporting system, as well as adds more animated emojis.
For any new users who left WhatsApp for Telegram, the latest glitch is a stark reminder that, unfortunately, no messaging service is completely secure.
The latest privacy-defeating vulnerability was unearthed by security researcher Dhiraj Mishra. It’s found in version 7.3 of the macOS app. Telegram was notified about the issue on December 26, 2020. And following an update on January 29, the issue has been resolved in version 7.4 of the macOS app. Mishra has allowed enough time for most users to update their app before speaking publicly about the bug – but if you haven’t yet updated Telegram on your MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro or Mac mini, you’ll want to head to the App Store to download that right away.
