Who is running for election in Ventura County

Seven top local officials plan to run for Ventura County  offices next June, including the Thousand Oaks mayor who is seeking a seat on the Board of Supervisors. Mayor Claudia Bill-de la Peña, a longtime Thousand Oaks councilwoman,  plans to run for Linda Parks District 2 seat centered in the city. Parks is set to step down in January 2023 under term limits. In the interim, she faces a recall attempt by groups opposed to the board s decisions in January to sue businesses that refused to shut indoor operations to curb the pandemic. Four county officials intend to seek re-election, according to interviews and campaign finance documents. They are Sheriff Bill Ayub, Clerk-Recorder Mark Lunn, Auditor-Controller Jeff Burgh and Assessor Dan Goodwin. Incumbent Treasurer-Tax Collector Steven Hintz did not return a call regarding his election plans.
