Loft Insulation Among Recent Scams Targeting Isle Of Wight Residents
By Iona Stewart-Richardson
Trading Standards have a roundup of scams currently in circulation.
For this week, one that appears to be quite prolific with a large number of reports received is around loft insulation.
Islanders say calls from a Bournemouth number and the caller will offer you a FREE survey to find out if your loft insulation is causing damp issues.
If you agree to the survey they will book somebody in to come and have a look and we can almost guarantee that they will find problems and then proceed to do the work for you at in inflated price.

The Footprint Trust, run by Ray Harrington-Vail said, sets out to tackle high energy bills Nearly 970 homes have been supported through high energy costs by an Isle of Wight charity, partly thanks to a funding boost from the People’s Postcode Lottery. The lottery handed £20,000 to The Footprint Trust in 2020, but when Covid-19 restrictions hit, it meant a rethink on how services were offered. The Footprint Trust says 2020/21 was its busiest winter yet and it helped reduce Islanders energy bills by over £100,000. The lottery cash supported changes to its working practices, to cope with lockdown rules.
