KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library announced Friday patrons will still be required to wear masks inside its buildings.
The announcement comes as federal, state and local governments relax mask wearing and social distancing requirements as COVID-19 vaccinations rise and cases trend lower.
On Friday, the cityâs existing emergency order regarding the pandemic expired at noon.
The library cited the vaccination progress of one of its key groups - children - as one of the reasons to keep mask mandates in place.

Two Kansas City Public Library branches will close temporarily amid the COVID-19 pandemic. KCPL announced Friday that the Irene H. Ruiz Biblioteca de las Americas and Sugar Creek Branch are shutting down as the library system consolidates staff and services at larger locations.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The Kansas City Public Library said it plans to fully reopen nine out of 10 of its locations beginning on June 1.
The library began temporary closures last March due to the COVID-19.

“For more than a year, our team has been working incredibly hard to continue to provide vital services,” says Joel Jones, deputy director for library services. “I’ve been blown away by what we’ve been able to accomplish, but our staff are really excited to welcome patrons back into the Library. They miss the smiling faces of so many patrons they have not seen for far too long.”

Madras police displayed, cash, drugs seized in raid on trailer
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A non-fatal drug overdose led to a raid on a Madras trailer and the arrest of a mother and daughter who live there on drug delivery, conspiracy and assault charges, with more charges likely, police said.
Madras police, assisted by Warm Springs police, served a search warrant Thursday afternoon at a trailer at the Trails West RV Park on Southwest Bard Lane, Police Chief Tanner Stanfill said.
Based on a Madras police investigation of the drug overdose, Stanfill said officers had probable cause for drug delivery occurring at the trailer, and applied for an received a search warrant.
