Sydney Watson, a senior midfielder on the University of Connecticut (UCONN) women’s lacrosse team, remembers the moment when her passion was ignited for pursuing a career in the investigatory realm. She was 12 years old and her mom, Teresa, had come home from work with a case. As an accident reconstructionist, Watson remembers her mom recreating scenes with toy cars in their living room. On this particular day, she asked to help.
“I kept asking my mom a lot of questions as we both tried to uncover what had happened,” said Watson. “I felt like I kind of helped her figure it out and that made me want to be a part of a field like that. My interest in investigation really stemmed from that experience.”

Yes, you re reading those statistics correctly. The High Point graduate transfer has immediately made an impact for No. 6 Virginia and, simply, she s a
beast. She leads the Hoos in groundballs and caused turnovers, leads the ACC in groundballs per game (2.45) and ranks fourth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.64), as well. In addition to her defensive capabilities, what s perhaps most impressive is that she s turned the ball over just
three times this spring given how often she s involved in the play for UVA.
