European competition fiercest for UIPM Athletes and Coaches Committees vote

Sunday, 4 April 2021 Five top European competitors, including two former world champions, will contest one place on the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) Athletes Committee when elections take place for the Paris 2024 cycle during the World Championships in Cairo in June. The European category is the most competitive of the six involved, with the election for Asia, where there are just two candidates, the only other where there will be a contest. European nominations announced by the UIPM include Britain s 30-year-old Jamie Cooke, the 2018 world champion and 2019 European champion, and 2016 world champion Valentin Belaud of France. Also in the mix will be Ireland s 30-year-old Natalya Coyle, who is qualified to compete at what will be her third Olympics at Tokyo 2020.

IESF announces launch of four-member Athletes Commission Wednesday, 10 February 2021 The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the establishment of the Athletes’ Committee, which the organisation says will help protect players’ interests. The IESF say the four-person committee is composed of diverse backgrounds, countries and regions covering different game titles. Tiffani Oling Lim will serve as the chair of the Athletes’ Commission. Lim is a Malaysian Dota 2 player, while the IESF have highlighted her work in the community and as an advocate for player rights. Lim is also the pro tem President of her local Esports Players’ Association and the head of marketing and public relations of the esports organisation Battle Arena Malaysia.
