Liberty University Director of Athletics Ian McCaw announced through social media Wednesday afternoon that Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay has received a contract extension through 2028, allowing McKay to continue leading the Flames in making history.
“I am very honored and extremely excited by the commitment that our President (Jerry) Prevo, Ian McCaw, and our administration has made to our program,” McKay said. “Many are responsible for the upward trajectory that we’ve experienced, but especially our student-athletes that continue to pursue excellence in their pursuits. That being said, our hope is to continue to improve and compete at the highest level.”

The Liberty Indoor Tennis Center, the new indoor home of Liberty University’s men’s and women’s tennis teams, officially opened on Tuesday with a dedication ceremony.
Speakers included Liberty Director of Athletics Ian McCaw, Men’s Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt, Women’s Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren, and Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance CEO & Chief Economic Development Officer Megan Lucas.

Liberty University’s football team, which landed at No. 23 in the final regular season Associated Press and Coaches Poll Top 25 national rankings, will look to cap off its best season in program history with a win over No. 9/11 Coastal Carolina in the 2020 FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl.
The 2020 FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m., broadcast live on ESPN.
“We are excited to be heading back to the Cure Bowl and are thrilled with our matchup against a top-ranked opponent in Coastal Carolina,” Flames Head Coach Hugh Freeze said. “Alan Gooch and the entire Cure Bowl staff created a first-class experience for Liberty during last year’s Cure Bowl and we expect the same when we take to the field at Camping World Stadium.
