This Week in Lincolnville: Spring Sneaks Up on Us

Fast forward a dozen years, and I’m all grown up, living on my own, a thousand miles from my Illinois childhood. March came. Ice and snow. April came. Wind, cold, some snow, weak sun. May, even June, more of the same, mostly minus the snow. (Although, surely we remember having snow in May, right?) Even June can be stingy with the nice weather. Of course, the bulbs come up, the trees leaf out, the lilacs bloom (though three weeks later than the ones in my Illinois yard) and eventually, spring does arrive. Right now, even though Easter has come and gone, spring is holding off.

The town saw a “sustained high” in cases starting in early November, and that’s been changing recently, “so this is good progress,” Eielson told members of the Health & Human Services Commission during their regular meeting, held via videoconference. “But we knew that was going to happen with the holidays and gatherings,” she said. “So this is good news.”

Bradford-based charity Staying Put welcomes new faces | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

BRADFORD-based domestic and sexual abuse charity, Staying Put, has welcomed two new board members. Helen Hirst and Dr Ranjit Arora FRSA were officially welcomed to the charity at its AGM last month. They will play a vital role in ensuring a clear strategy for the organisation, build on the charity’s foundation of an inclusive culture, and ensure that Staying Put remains creative, which the charity hopes will result in wider success. The charity has seen an unprecedented number of calls over the last year, due to a sharp rise in domestic abuse during the pandemic, leading the charity to adapt rapidly to meet demand.
