SALISBURY, N.C. A Salisbury Police officer hit a pedestrian with his patrol vehicle while responding to a call early Tuesday morning, according to a news release.
Investigators say Officer B.W. Jones was traveling eastbound on Old Concord Road, responding to an attempted suicide call, when he struck the pedestrian near Gold Hill Drive just after 1am on May 18th.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Health Hospital for treatment, according to a news release. Their condition is unknown at this time.
The officer was not injured. Investigators say the officer was taken for a drug and alcohol screening which is standard procedure when an officer is involved in a crash.

8:41 a.m. A caller from a business in the 100 block of Litton Drive reported a burglary to a shipping container in the parking lot.
8:48 a.m. A caller from the 100 block of Ophir Street reported a scam.
9:36 a.m. A man from the 300 block of Olympia Park Road reported someone using his phone number for a fraud.
3:12 p.m. A caller from the 200 block of Dorsey Drive reported the theft of a phone.
4:04 p.m. A caller from a business in the 200 block of East Main Street reported juveniles running on the roof.
5:58 p.m. A caller from Highway 20 and South Auburn Street reported a vehicle hit the guard rail several times and was unable to maintain lanes. The vehicle then exited the highway on Dorsey Drive.
Sunday
8:32 a.m. A caller from a business in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue reported the theft of items.
9:36 a.m. A caller from the 100 block of Murphy Street reported a stolen package.
10:20 a.m. A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported someone cut off part of the exhaust on a vehicle. The theft of the catalytic converter had been thwarted by a neighbor.
8:02 p.m. A caller from Highway 20 and Highway 49 reported a truck off the highway into a tree. The driver said he was OK.

9:20 a.m. A caller from the 100 block of Dorsey Drive reported a vehicle was broken into.
