Concacaf Gold Cup delivers impressive TV ratings for Univisionâs Networks
TUDNâs coverage of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup continues to draw big ratings for Univisionâs networks. Powered by El Tri, the most-watched menâs national team in the U.S., TUDNâs telecasts of this yearâs action are up 25% among Total Viewers 2+ and +28% with Adults 18-49 through the first 20 games of the Group Stage. For the tournament thus far, Univisionâs networks are averaging 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+ and 597,000 Adults 18-49.
The performance is led by the Mexican National Team, who last week versus El Salvador delivered 3.79 million Total Viewers 2+ and 2.04 million Adults 18-49. It is the most-watched Gold Cup Group Stage contest on U.S. television since 2011 when Mexico faced Costa Rica. Through three matches, El Tri is averaging 2.92 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.59 million Adults 18-49.

August 1: Gold Cup final
All those games to be broadcast on
We certainly cannot assume Canada will be in the Gold Cup final, but the bare minimum for expectations around this talented Canadian team should, realistically, be to get to that two-legged World Cup qualifying tie in mid-June, as well as the Gold Cup quarter-final (at least).
For anybody who’s forgotten how this year’s World Cup qualifying works: Canada, drawn into the first round by virtue of being outside the top five Concacaf sides based on FIFA world rankings, is in Group B alongside Suriname, Aruba, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands. The group winner will take on the winner of Group E (Haiti, Nicaragua, Belize, and Turks and Caicos) in mid-June in a home-and-away tie.
Concacaf has announced the full schedule for the 2021 Gold Cup, with the tournament to kick off on July 2 in South Florida, with Bermuda set to play Barbados.
The organisation said, “Concacaf has announced the full schedule for the 2021 Gold Cup, the region’s flagship men’s national team competition. This year’s edition will include a new Preliminary Round [July 2-6] prior to the Group Stage [July 10-20] and a revamped Knockout Stage [July 24 – Aug 1].
“This summer’s Gold Cup, the 16th edition of the competition and a key part of Concacaf’s 60th anniversary celebration, will be played in 11 stadiums across eight US metropolitan areas. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the competition’s final match on Sunday, August 1.
