The strategy projects an extra 5,300 jobs will be needed by 2036, as the population is set to grow to between 70,000-80,000 residents.
The council has identified 16 priorities to grow its economy, including improving education and training, encouraging and supporting entrepreneurial activity, and developing Cessnock Airport into a general aviation hub.
Mayor Bob Pynsent says he’s passionate about strengthening Cessnock’s position as a desired place to live, visit and most importantly, work.
“We want to harness every opportunity available to us,” Cr Pynsent said.
