A Palm Beach County art teacher is spending her spring break in the art studio and preparing to showcase her work in Riviera Beach.
Lupe Lawrence is based in Lake Park and specializes in murals with artwork that makes use of precious stones, pastels on silk, mixed media, colored pencils with turpentine and oils on silk.
Her work is part of a series on display at the Riviera Beach Village Event Center featuring women s history.

Palm Beach Daily News Karibu, the Swahili word for “welcome, come in” takes on a new meaning when applied to African-American culture, centered around Sunday meals after church and families drawn together by strong female figures, according to the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.
And that sense of community is at the center of its new exhibition, Karibu: A Celebration of Black Artists in Palm Beach County.
The exhibit, a collaboration between the Cultural Council and ATB Fine Art Group, headed by artists Trina Slade-Burks and her husband Anthony Burks Sr., will be on view Monday through March 13 at the council’s headquarters, 601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach.
