A gunman dressed in a sporting teams outfit entered a credit union office near closing time in Jefferson Tuesday and robbed the office at gunpoint.
The robber of the Peach State Federal Credit Union on Lee Street remains unidentified, Jefferson Police Chief Joe Wirthman said Wednesday.
“He showed a gun, but luckily he didn’t shoot it at anyone,” he said of the robbery that occurred shortly before 5 p.m.
“We think he ran down Memorial Drive toward the football stadium and that’s as far as we’ve got him. I don’t know if he had a car or if somebody picked him up,” Wirthman said.
