RENTON By now, making the playoffs might seem as if it’s just supposed to happen for Pete Carroll’s crew.
Nine playoff trips in 11 seasons can create that level of expectation.
But the Seattle Seahawks haven’t won an NFC West title since 2016. They haven’t hosted a playoff game since beating Detroit on a Saturday night in January 2017.
Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar to Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery
Ending a tumultuous first - and possibly only - season in Seattle, Dunbar will finish his third consecutive season on injured reserve due to a chronic knee issue and enter free agency in March after appearing in just six games.

Two weeks ago, Quinton Dunbar was designated to return to practice from injured reserve and the Seahawks remained optimistic about his chances of playing again this season. But those positive vibes turned out to be short lived.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, coach Pete Carroll confirmed Dunbar would stay on injured reserve and undergo season-ending surgery in the near future to fix his ailing knee. He has been sidelined since a Week 9 loss to the Bills and missed a pair of games earlier in the season with the same injury.

But the Seattle Seahawks haven’t won an NFC West title since 2016. They haven’t hosted a playoff game since beating Detroit on a Saturday night in January 2017.
So while Seattle’s 20-15 win over Washington on Sunday was important for wrapping up the Seahawks spot in the postseason yet again, what happened thousands of miles away in Los Angeles was even more important.

Seattle Seahawks v Washington Football Team
The Seattle Seahawks are playoff bound once again. With a 20-15 victory over the Washington Football Team on Sunday, the Seahawks clinched a playoff berth for the ninth time in 11 seasons under head coach Pete Carroll. Being in the playoffs with games to go, that s a beautiful thing, head coach Pete Carroll said.
And while being in the playoffs has become rather routine for the Seahawks, some members of the team haven t been so for fortunate in previous stops and were incredibly happy to know they ll be playing in January. Hell yeah! safety Jamal Adams exclaimed in his post-game interview after earning his first career playoff appearance. That s a hell of a feeling man! I m sorry, I m not used to this guys. Forgive me, I know you guys are used to it. Seattle always going to the playoffs. I m not used to this.
