(WECT) - Senior guard Mike Okauru led four players in double figures with 17 points as surging UNCW recorded its second straight road victory by handcuffing Campbell, 78-59, early Monday at Gore Arena. The Seahawks, 5-3, entered the contest 1-4 at Gore Arena, but used a stellar defensive effort and balanced scoring to frustrate the Camels, who dropped their third straight and dipped to 4-3. It was the 106th meeting between the two longtime state foes.

(WECT) - UNCW used a 28-point third quarter to claim the lead over Kennesaw State, but the host Owls answered with a big fourth quarter to secure a 69-59 victory over the Seahawks in non-conference women’s basketball action at the KSU Convocation Center on Friday afternoon.  The loss dropped the Seahawks’ record to 3-2 on the season and saw an end to their two-game win streak. Kennesaw State, meanwhile, earned its second win in three days to open its 2020-21 campaign.

(WECT) - While COVID-19 cases continue to spike across the county, UNCW is moving forward with the men’s and women’s basketball seasons. To keep athletes, coaches, and staff safe, the university has put into place safety measures and precautions. Everywhere around Trask Coliseum, there are signs and hand sanitizing stations, and for an extra layer of protection, the university has put plastic shields around the team benches.
