Chiefs to meet on possible fire district | News, Sports, Jobs

bcoupland@tribtoday.com GIRARD With interest from Liberty and Weathersfield officials in forming a fire district, Girard fire Chief Ken Bornemiss will set up a meeting with chiefs from the two townships to study the pros and cons. Mayor James Melfi told city council Monday that Bornemiss will begin the talks first with Liberty fire Chief Gus Birch and Weathersfield fire Chief Tom Lambert to go over the advantages and disadvantages of forming a district involving the three communities and possibly others. “We are going to let the fire chiefs begin the talks, who will then report to their officials what has taken place. We will see what they come up with, and then the leaders will sit down,” Melfi said.

La Center airs it out in 58-0 win over Fort Vancouver Lambert throws for 373 yards, 7 TDs Published: February 20, 2021, 6:52pm Share: Football was back in action on Sturday, Feb. 20, 2021, as La Center (in white) takes on Fort Vancouver at Kiggins Bowl. (Micah Rice/The Columbian) With full-contact practices allowed to start just this week, the La Center football team was rusty in some areas Saturday. Passing was not one of them. Whether in practice pods or by just slinging the ball around in their free time, quarterback Tom Lambert and his La Center receivers have already forged a connection. That chemistry was on full display in a 58-0 season-opening win over Fort Vancouver at Kiggins Bowl. Lambert threw for 373 yards and seven touchdowns, four to senior Coby Nemanny.
