Subscriber only A Darling Downs postmaster has thrown his support behind former-Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate as she appeared before a Senate inquiry. According to Cecil Plains licensed post office owner Tom Olley, businesses like his would have closed if Ms Holgate and her executive team had not secured the Bank@Post deal. It was his view that Ms Holgate was right to reward them with a Cartier watch and that Prime Minister Scott Morrison s call for her to resign was akin to bullying. Post offices like mine have been used as bank branches for a long time but the service was costing $48 million a year, Mr Olley said.
