KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) which busted an Islamic State (IS) module in New Delhi is probing the involvement of more Keralites, including two women, in the group. According to sources, NIA has interrogated three persons including the women as part of the probe. The case pertains to an IS module formed by a Malayali named Mohammed Ameen, alias Abu Yahya. The group had identified certain individuals in Kerala and Karnataka for targeted killings. They had also planned to undertake ‘hijrat’ (religious migration) to Kashmir for engaging in terrorist acts.

KOCHI: Muziris Heritage Project (MHP) has digitised over one lakh documents pertaining to the history of Islam in Kerala as part of the Cheraman Islamic History Museum set up on the premises of the Cheraman Juma Masjid in Kodungallur, the first mosque in the country. MHP managing director P M Nowshad said collective effort ensured that several historical documents could be collected, digitised and preserved for future generations.

KOCHI: The renovated Indira Priyadarshini Park, more commonly known as the Ernakulam Children’s Park, would be thrown open to public within the next few weeks. According to officials concerned, the plan is to complete the renovation work in next two weeks. The park, located near the Marine Drive and the Ernakulam boat jetty, is closed since 2018. KEL (Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co Ltd) is tasked with the `4 crore renovation.
“The Covid-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown delayed renovation work. As per the earlier plan, the park was to be reopened in 2020. Now the work is in full swing. KEL authorities and the contractor have promised us to complete the work by February 15. Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) also has assured to complete the work in front of the park before February 15,” said Ernakulam MLA T J Vinod, who is also the chairman of the project’s work monitoring committee.
