The people of Paris have rallied together to update the buildings that the Boy and Girl Scouts use.
At the Boy Scout building, which is known as the Hut, scout leaders have been able to add three heat and air conditioning units, said Tommy Johns, one of the troop s adult leaders.
The Boy Scouts are also in the process of replacing the building s ceiling tiles. The scouts were able to get some used ceiling tiles from Arcbest, where Brian Stengle, another one of the adult troop leaders, works, Johns said.
The Logan County Leadership Group has taken it upon itself to renovate the Pinewood Girl Scout Hut.
Pella Regional Health Center announced that Tonya Fletcher, RN, in the Pella Regional Medical-Surgical Unit is the recipient of the 2021 quarterly DAISY award. The program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on special touches and human consideration that these nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Tonya’s nomination:
“Our department has been quite busy these past few months in 2021. Many staff members are working late hours or extra to ensure our patients’ needs are met. Tonya has helped out numerous times by staying late or taking extra call without batting an eye. Tonya works tirelessly and is devoted to her patients and their care. She is a ray of light in her department and easily enlightens patients and staff members who cross her path.
Paris works to beautify its downtown

It started with the Eiffel Tower Park in 2014. Then the town built the Love Lock Fence in 2017. And businesses started pouring back into Paris downtown.
But what really spurred the city to action was the move to create a Main Street program. The program is through Main Street Arkansas, a state group that supports cities downtowns.
Paris took its first step toward creating a program by starting with volunteers running a business network through Main Street Arkansas, said Tonya Fletcher, the executive director of the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce.
