Tony Haigh died peacefully at home on Saturday February 27, aged 70. Tony joined Glaneirw House Community in Blaenporth in the mid-1970s as a young man. He was deeply committed to community life where he made many friends and he contributed with passion to the goals of self-sufficiency. He committed to integration with the Welsh language, becoming fluent and campaigning with the the Welsh Language Society. Tony’s legacy at Glaneirw (now privately owned) includes a plantation of hundreds of trees. He was a self trained plumber and converted and installed Rayburn cookers for many years. Tony, a mathematician by training, was a highly accomplished chess player. As a member of the Cardigan Chess Club he shared in many of their triumphs, including in 2013 travelling to Greece with the team to take part in the European Chess Club cup competition.

Tony Haigh, 49, who was described as a quietly spoken gentleman , disappeared from Holyhead, Anglesey, on Friday 23 February 2018. An appeal was launched on the Missing Podcast.
A PODCAST examines the case of a missing father-of-three who disappeared from Holyhead in 2018. Tony Haigh, aged 49, was last seen by the traffic lights on Tan Alltran Close, Richmond Hill, at 3.30pm on February 23. In podcast The Missing, hosted by writer, journalist and broadcaster Pandora Sykes, Michelle Davis, Tony s ex-partner, says there was no body, no trace, no witnesses and no CCTV and police have not found any items belonging to the grandfather. Speaking on the new episode, Michelle said: Tony was a man of routine anyway, always had been. You know, he liked to go to work in the day, come home in the evening, stay at home, play chess, you know, pop and see his family and see some of his friends. But he was very much a home bird that s person just enjoyed his own company.
