Local News: Quorum court pushes meetings back 1 hour (1/6/21)

Wednesday, January 6, 2021 The Carroll County Quorum Court will push its monthly meetings back by an hour for the next two years. The court voted 8-1 Monday night to hold its regular meetings at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Prosecuting Attorney Tony Rogers had asked the court to consider another day of the week because Mondays are busy days for prosecutors in criminal court and the courtroom of the Carroll County Eastern District Courthouse in Berryville — where the quorum court normally meets — is sometimes not available on Monday nights. District 6 Justice of the Peace Craig Hicks made a motion to set the monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on the third Monday, saying that would give prosecutors more time to finish their duties in criminal court. Although Rogers noted that would create a longer day for prosecutors, JPs approved Hicks’ motion by an 8-1 vote.

BCF celebrates the joy of camping in the face of no overseas travel

BCF celebrates the joy of camping in the face of no overseas travel December 11, 2020 10:51 There’s a brighter side of not being able to go overseas for Christmas, and BCF is noting the weird and wintery family reunions that Australians will miss out on this year. BCF’s iconic jingle describes the disappointment many feel about being unable to go overseas, but the song is contrasted with the picturesque images of Australians camping in the great outdoors. The ad also makes reference to the origins of COVID-19, with lyrics expressing “Shaz is a bit upset that somebody ate a bat”.
