The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call from Martin County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, April 12, 2021, requesting KSP’s assistance regarding the investigation of possible human remains found in the Tomahawk community of Martin County.
KSP investigators responded to a residence on South Milo Road where they located what appeared to be possible human remains in a wooded area behind the residence. The area was secured until additional investigators could return during daylight hours to conduct a secondary search. The Martin County Coroner will transport the remains to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, KY for possible identification.

The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call on Monday, April 05, 2021, regarding a shots fired complaint in Floyd County.
KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Bucks Branch where they discovered two men had been shot.
The initial investigation indicated Racheal Hamilton, Brian Shepherd, and Jacob Hamilton were involved in an altercation. During the incident Racheal Hamilton discharged a firearm striking Shepherd and also wounding Jacob.
Brian Shepherd suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Jacob Hamilton suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call from Martin County Sheriff’s Office advising a male had been electrocuted near River Front Road in the Lovely community of Martin County. A detective from post 9 responded to investigate.
The initial investigation indicated Brandon Chapman, 36 years old of Tomahawk, was electrocuted near an abandoned building off River Front Road. Brandon Chapman was pronounced deceased on scene by the Martin County Coroner’s Office.
