Car boot accused remanded in custody after facing court

Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN has faced court after bing accused of threatening a woman with a knife before being found hiding in the boot of her BMW on Wednesday. In a brief mention before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Thursday, Joshua Charles Conlan was represented by lawyer Matt Gemmell. Joshua Charles Conlan, 27, from Kallangur, is charged with assaults causing bodily harm/when armed at Augustine Heights on Wednesday, December 16; deprivation of a liberty/unlawfully detain a female aged 45; enter a dwelling and commit serious offence in Conlan St at 6.30am on December 16; and robbery with violence/when armed. Mr Gemmell said Conlan did not seek bail and asked for an adjournment.

Jilted ex-girlfriend goes on tyre slashing spree

The man recognised the car of his former lover being driven off at speed, then discovered the tyres on three parked vehicles had been slashed. Brake fluid had also been thrown over one car, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard, after the man s former lover Jannae Jackson paid a visit. Jannae Tiarne Jackson, 29, from Victoria Point, pleaded guilty to three charges of causing wilful damage at Mount Warren Park on August 13; and failing to appear at court. She also pleaded guilty to stealing a dog at Upper Coomera that was owned by a former housemate.

Several hours later, the same man attempted to break into a Coles supermarket, after mixing medication with the bottle of alcohol he had stolen. Reuben Olander was later unable to remember what he did over those few hours, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard this week. Reuben Mark Olander, 26, from Redbank, pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of London Gin from Liquorland in Town Square at Redbank Plains on October 24; and attempting to enter the premises of Coles in Ipswich by break on the evening of October 24/25.

Police follow trail of debris to offender s vehicle

Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN who attempted to drive away from a crash scene didn’t get far, with his severely damaged Falcon only making it around the corner before breaking down completely. Witnesses described being woken by the sound of the offender’s vehicle crashing through a fence about 10.20pm on October 12. They called police, who arrived at the scene and located Trevor Johnson sitting inside the car, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard. Trevor Alan Johnson, 42, a tradesman from Crestmead, pleaded guilty to six charges including possession of dangerous drugs; driving when disqualified by court order; failing to comply with his duties as a driver involved in a crash; two counts of failing to provide a breath/saliva sample for testing; and contravening a police direction.

Man steals axe, slashes trees in bizarre Bunnings incident

Premium Content Subscriber only BUNNINGS staff were caught off guard when they confronted a man who had stolen an axe and started slashing away at trees outside the store. An Ipswich court on Tuesday heard Nicholas Kent never intended to hurt anyone, and claimed he was acting out of boredom. The bizarre incident, most likely triggered by Kent overdosing on prescription medication, was witnessed by an off-duty police officer. Nicholas Justin Kent, 35, from Booval, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to stealing a $64.95 axe and $49 torch from Bunnings at Bundamba on September 2; and going armed to cause fear. Kent also pleaded guilty to unrelated domestic violence offences, and to breaching his bail.
