Lawyer will contest seat Share
THE Liberal Party has selected a candidate to run in the seat of Dunkley at the next federal election.
Lawyer Sharn Coombes was endorsed by the party at a meeting on 10 July. She is a barrister and former contestant on the reality TV show
Survivor.
Ms Coombes defeated former Dunkley MP Chris Crewther, former Carrum MP Donna Hope, and Chrestyna Kmetj in the race for preselection.
In a statement after the meeting, Mr Crewther said “recently, I put up my hand for preselection to again become the Liberal candidate for Dunkley, to try win the seat back, as I felt I had the best chance to do so and that I had a lot more to give both locally and nationally. Late yesterday I was unsuccessful though in this endeavour, coming 2nd out of 4 preselection candidates. I’d like to acknowledge fellow candidates, Donna Hope and Chrestyna Kmetj, and give my best wishes to the preselected Liberal candidate, Sharn Coombes.”

A former Crown prosecutor and reality TV contestant is hoping to win from Labor a key Melbourne seat that could be crucial to Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s re-election chances.
Sharn Coombes, a criminal barrister for two decades and two-time runner-up on
Survivor, will vie for preselection for the south-eastern seat of Dunkley against former member for the seat Chris Crewther and former state MP Donna Hope, who is now a flight attendant.

The world has lost a musical icon following the news that Reggae legend Bunny Wailer died today.
Wailer had been recovering from a stroke and seemed to be on the mend but apparently, his health took a turn for the worst. The singer died at Andrew’s Memorial Hospital in Kingston, according to the Culture Ministry.
Wailer, whose real name was Neville Livingston, had an illustrious career that spanned at least seven decades. He was the last surviving member of the original Wailers that included Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness expressed his condolences to the family of Jah B as he was fondly called.
