WILLIAMSBURG – As vaccinations for COVID-19 are being administered throughout the state, those involved with public health in the Hilltowns are working on plans to provide access for residents.
While first responders and others in Phase 1 of the state’s vaccination rollout plan are being vaccinated elsewhere in the region, Donna Gibson, chairwoman of the Williamsburg Board of Health, said the town is preparing to set up drive-thru clinics to serve residents of Williamsburg and Goshen.
Michael Kurland, chairman of the Goshen Board of Health, said the current plan is to have a staging area at the parking lot of the Anne T. Dunphy School, with drive-thru vaccinations taking place near the garage of the Williamsburg Highway Department.
But it can have huge benefits ‒ for you and for your new pooch. We asked our Facebook readers to share their stories of their rescue dogs, and we loved reading your stories and seeing your adorable photos.
Photos We ve compiled this photo gallery and here we re sharing 10 of our favourite stories: 1. Hayley Scrivener: Polly, now five or so years old, rescued from Queensland Staffy & Amstaff Rescue at approximately six months old. She s the first dog I ve ever owned or had in my life. She s my best friend, she follows me everywhere. I try to take her with me everywhere I go, she s pretty well behaved! I couldn t imagine life without Polly.
There was none of that in Okaloosa County, where the county s Department of Health teamed with Northwest Florida State College, local Emergency Medical Service workers and Medical Reserve Corps volunteers to pull off a near seamless drive-thru vaccination clinic. It didn t hurt a bit. I didn t feel anything, 78-year-old Mary Norton said just after receiving her shot.
Key to the success of the event was procurement of the vast parking lot outside of the college s basketball arena and baseball fields. The wide open space allowed the 30 Health Department workers and their associates to stage personnel at seven locations to assist in moving the 168 total vaccine recipients through to the vaccine site.
