Former Marriott sales executive Doreen Burse moved to the
airline side of the industry earlier
this year, taking over as United Airlines SVP of worldwide sales on March
1. She spoke recently with BTN transportation editor Michael B. Baker about her
plans in her new role, the latest she s hearing from corporate customers on
returning business demand and how United customers are approaching contracting
as they prepare to emerge from the pandemic.
BTN: What goals did you set as you started this new
role?

Doreen worked most recently as Vice President of Marriott s Global Sales for the U.S. and Canada. She led a cross-functional global account team serving hundreds of accounts, representing about 1,000 associations, 250 corporations, and hundreds of group intermediary partners, TMCs, retail agencies and other organizations representing $16 billion in annual spending.

Longtime Marriott sales executive Doreen Burse will become United’s next worldwide sales head, taking over a position that has been vacant since the mysterious disapperance of Jake Cefolia last August.

Burse, who most recently as vice president of Marriott’s global sales for the U.S. and Canada, will assume her post at United on March 1. She will be responsible for developing and leading United’s global sales strategy.
“In 2021, our sales organization will be one of the most pivotal contributors to United s recovery as we lay the groundwork for the company’s future success,” United chief commercial officer Andrew Nocella said in a statement on Tuesday. “Considering the significance of this team in setting the direction and tone for our entire organization, I am excited to announce Doreen Burse as our senior vice president of worldwide sales.”
