PLAINVILLE, CT A Plainville police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon in Torrington, according to officials.
The Plainville Police Department announced Wednesday that Officer Brian Cybulski, a 15-year member of the force, died in the crash.
Cybulski, who worked as a dispatcher before becoming a police officer, was a well-liked and well-respected member of our department, officials said.

TORRINGTON, Conn. Two siblings from Torrington are in the hospital with serious injuries this morning after they were struck by a car Thursday night.
Police said the children, 9-year-old Chris Torres, and 13-year-old Justin Cordova, were struck by a car on Prospect Street Thursday night in Torrington while one was on a skateboard and another was on a Razor scooter.
The driver reportedly did not see the children cross the street when they struck them.
Both children were flown by Lifestar to Connecticut Children s Medical Center. Police said the 9-year-old was reportedly in critical condition and the 13-year-old was in serious condition when they were transported.

Police said the Litchfield State’s Attorney asked state police to conduct a criminal investigation, no criminal charges were brought forth and the incident was referred to administration and internal affairs of the Torrington Police Department. An independent investigation was then carried out.
Police said Peters was found to have violated department policy in using Oleoresin Capsicum, a spray foam, and in the use of force.
The person who was in police custody did not sustain any serious injuries, according to police.

TORRINGTON, Conn. Officials announced Wednesday a longtime police officer in the city of Torrington has been terminated for his excessive use of force.
According to a release, Sgt. Gerald Jay Peters, a 19-year veteran of the department, inflicted the force on a suspect in police custody back in May of 2020.
The Torrington Police chief said the individual did not sustain serious injuries, however the incident was caught on police body camera.
An internal investigation determined that Peters violated department policy.
