JC commissioners want busts of Walter Umphrey and Wayne Reaud in front of courthouse

Wayne Reaud BEAUMONT – Over the years, iconic attorneys Walter Umphrey and Wayne Reaud have contributed greatly to the Jefferson County courthouse – somewhat literally, as the two men and their law firms have been stuffing heaps of cash into the coffers of the judges who preside over their cases for decades now. Now, apparently seeking to “honor” Umphrey and Reaud for their “accomplishments,” the Commissioners’ Court will vote tomorrow on whether to authorize the erection of busts of the men in the courthouse’s entry courtyard.       If authorized, a bust of Gilbert Low will also be erected alongside Umphrey and Reaud.

(WTVF) — A Nashville man has died nearly two weeks after he was shot when an argument got out of hand. Metro Nashville Police officials say 25-year-old Halbert Poole III died Monday. He was shot Dec. 30 outside the Little Barn Market on Clarksville Pike. Poole and his friend 25-year-old Donald Floyd got into an argument with two men outside the market at 5 p.m, according to police. The suspects drove off in a blue Nissan Altima. Poole and Floyd left in a separate vehicle, Floyd behind the wheel and Poole his front seat passenger.
