Sister M. Lenore Schwartz of Lafayette named Sagamore of the Wabash

Sister M. Lenore Schwartz, assigned to St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette since 2000, became the latest in the area to be presented the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana s highest citizen award.
State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette), who presented Sister Lenore with the award, nominated her for her years of dedication to the education and betterment of Indiana communities, Alting s release stated. Our community is lucky to have Sister Lenore among us, Alting said in the May 27 announcement. Her wisdom and faith are a testament to her vocation and compassion, and I can t thank her enough for all she has done.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) Soon-to-be Purdue University graduate Kyle Albertson was diagnosed as a baby with congenital muscular dystrophy. But he hasn t let that slow him down.
Albertson is the most recent recipient of the Tyler Trent Courage and Resilience Award, which recognizes students who have encountered daunting adversity in their pursuit of a degree.
Purdue President Mitch Daniels surprised Albertson during a recent video call to announce he had been selected for the award. Albertson says it s an honor.
Purdue University officials are releasing additional details for the upcoming commencement ceremonies on Saturday (May 15) and Sunday (May 16) at the West Lafayette campus.
