Randal Schafer is a semi-retired surgeon and supporter of Adventist Church–owned Holbrook Indian School (HIS) in Holbrook, Arizona, United States. He has been heading the HIS triplex building project since 2019. Schafer has always worked on a volunteer basis, but taking a step back from his job is allowing him to spend more time on this project.
Schafer’s connection to HIS began with the desire to help a people group as he grew spiritually.
“I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Indian people,” Schafer said. “I had been praying and asking God to strengthen my faith.” An opportunity would soon present itself for him to step forward.

Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside the U.S. and Canada, continued its commitment to the swine industry’s next generation of veterinarians by partnering with the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation (AASVF) to sponsor the 2021 recipients of the AASVF/Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarships.
