Peterborough 0-0 Town
Saturday, 9th Mar 2013 17:03
Frank Nouble came closest to breaking the deadlock as the Blues’ trip to Peterborough ended in a 0-0 draw. The January signing from Wolves struck the woodwork from 25 yards and then forced Posh keeper Bobby Olejnik into a fine save during the first half.
Mick McCarthy handed Jay Tabb his Blues debut, Nouble his first Town start and Elliott Hewitt his first Blues start in the league.
Skipper Carlos Edwards was only considered fit enough for a place on the bench due to the groin injury that saw him miss the midweek trip to Nottingham Forest, while Michael Chopra was out with a dead leg and Lee Martin and Richard Stearman were suspended after their red cards at the City Ground.

Boss Mick McCarthy will hand Elliott Hewitt his first Town league start and new loanee Jay Tabb looks set to make his Blues debut in Saturday’s vital relegation six-pointer at Peterborough United. Michael Chopra joins the suspended Lee Martin and Richard Stearman on the sidelines due to a dead leg, but skipper Carlos Edwards and midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas return to the squad after missing the midweek trip to Nottingham Forest.
McCarthy says he decided to add Tabb to his squad having lost the suspended Lee Martin and Anthony Wordsworth, who is out for the season with three cracked vertebrae: “First and foremost because I’ve lost Anthony Wordsworth with a fractured spine and Lee Martin with a three-match ban.
Huddersfield Set to Sign Second Falkirk Player Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012 15:25
TWTD understands that Falkirk winger Kallum Higginbotham will join his Bairns team-mate Murray Wallace at Huddersfield Town. Earlier this afternoon, the Blues and the Terriers were amongst a number of clubs reported to have agreed a fee for the 22-year-old with the Scottish League Division One club.
Huddersfield beat Town and Brighton to 19-year-old defender Wallace’s signature, offering both the player and the selling club a better financial package.
Meanwhile, Crawley Town have rebuffed an offer of £1.9 million from Peterborough United for Town target Tyrone Barnett and defender Kyle McFadzean.
Town Target Crawley Striker Thursday, 26th Jan 2012 16:00
Crawley striker Tyrone Barnett is on Town boss Paul Jewell’s lengthy wish list but is not one of the five bids currently on the table. The 26-year-old has attracted a lot of attention during the Red Devils’ impressive first season in the Football League.
Barnett was a youth player with West Brom before dropping into non-league with Rushall Olympic, Telford, Willenhall Town and Hednessford. He broke into the Football League with Macclesfield in the summer of 2010.
After 13 goals in 50 starts and one sub appearance in his only season with the Silkmen, the 6ft 3in tall frontman moved on to Crawley for £150,000 last summer.
Ebanks-Blake Plays Down Town Links
Monday, 31st Dec 2012 09:33
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has dismissed suggestions that he might be reunited with his former boss Mick McCarthy at Portman Road during the January transfer window. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has repeatedly been linked with the Blues, along with his team-mates Ronald Zubar and Richard Stearman.
Ebanks-Blake told the
Birmingham Mail: “I suppose because I worked with Mick McCarthy here, someone was bound to link me with Ipswich. And I was with Ian Holloway at Plymouth, so that’s probably why there has been a mention of Palace as well.
