AN overgrown woodland has been turned into an oasis of tranquility for the local community. New trees, bushes, plants and bulbs have been planted and feeding sites set up for animals. A handmade bench created for people to remember loved ones has also been placed in the new nature reserve. STAFF at a Shell garage in Winsford paid a moving tribute to a much-loved work colleague. Brian Clarke, 62, a forecourt attendant who worked at the garage for nine years, died suddenly at the end of January. Colleagues from the petrol station and Spar shop joined employees from Ladbrokes, where Brian also worked, as his hearse drove into the Delamere Street garage yesterday, Tuesday. The Manchester City fan, who lived in Winsford, was remembered as Blue Moon was played through speakers and blue and white balloons were released. Hamish Gooley, a supervisor at the garage Spar shop, said: Brian was lovely, a really nice person to work with.
CAPTAIN Sir Tom Moore has been hailed a hero and true inspiration as people across Winsford pay tribute. The World War Two veteran who sadly died yesterday captured the hearts of the nation after raising £32 million for the NHS after walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday. Winsford family funeral firm Fowles Funeral Services opened a book of condolence on their Facebook page and has been inundated with beautiful tributes. Funeral director Dave Fowles said: Captain Tom touched the hearts of people he never met. We thought it would be lovely to invite the people of Winsford to share their memories and thoughts of such an amazing man.
