‘Anti-Asian Violence Is Deeply Rooted’

Former Assemblymember Mariko Yamada (D-Davis) posted these photos on May 4 with the following message: “There was another small visitor this morning when I arrived to clean the gravesite of Thong Hy Huynh. On this day 38 years ago, Thong was killed in a racially motivated knife attack on the campus of Davis High School. He was 17 The horrific rise in anti-Asian violence is deeply rooted. Our resolve to fight the ignorance that breeds hate must be even stronger.”
Huynh was born in Vietnam in 1965 and immigrated with his family to California by way of Taiwan. According to
Music for Natalie returns March 20
The Davis Odd Fellows will host the third annual Music for Natalie event starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 20. This event is a fundraiser for the Officer Natalie Corona Odd Fellows Memorial Scholarship.
This year, the event will include a pick-up dinner and a virtual concert of area musicians. Food will be provided by Foodies Catering. The cost is $25. More details on the music event will follow.

The Davis Odd Fellows created the scholarship in 2019 following the tragic death of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona. Officer Corona is remembered for her dedication to law enforcement, her service to her community, her hard work and her spirit of cooperation, inspiring her colleagues and the community.
