Man pleads guilty after Napoleonville high-speed chase
A man accused of leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Napoleonville has been placed on probation after pleading guilty last week.
Devis Napoleon, 25, of St. James, pleaded guilty last week to aggravated flight from an officer. After the defendant entered his negotiated plea, District Judge Jason Verdigets gave him an 18-month suspended sentence and placed him on 18 months of supervised probation, prosecutors said.
Napoleon was originally arrested during the early morning hours of Aug. 19, 2019, following a high-speed pursuit south of Napoleonville.
A deputy saw a southbound vehicle speeding and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said. However, driver, later identified as Napoleon, refused to pull over and accelerated at a high rate of speed.
