Led by Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM) Scientist Dr. Marianne Koritzinsky, researchers showed that about half of patient-derived pancreatic cancer cell lines are highly dependent or addicted to the protein peroxiredoxin 4 (PRDX4), as a result of the altered metabolic state of the cancer cell.

Representative image Mumbai: Mohammed Ali Shaikh (65), known as ‘paani ka badshah’ for his skills in smuggling diesel through the sea route, on Sunday died of a heart attack at a private hospital where he was being treated for Covid. He is survived by three wives and seven children. Shaikh, whom the police described as a diesel smuggler, also dabbled in politics by unsuccessfully contesting the 2009 Lok Sabha elections on a BSP ticket from South Mumbai. He was also involved in cases of red sanders smuggling, besides the 2010 murder of his former aide Sayyed Madar alias Chand. Shaikh was under the scanner in the 26/11 terror probe for carrying out a recce for David Headley, one of the conspirators. He started his career in Mumbai in the late ’80s with a cycle tyre puncture shop and moved to oil smuggling.

May 1, 2021 Ronald Davis Headley, 67, of Alpena, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a kind and loving man that will be dearly missed. Ron was born on Dec. 15, 1953 to the late Alfred and Eunice (Johns) Headley in Newberry, Michigan. He grew up and spent a majority of his life in the Atlanta, Michigan area, Ron eventually made his way to Alpena where he met and married the love of his life, Shelby Evans. They were married on April 14, 1984 and raised a family together. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was a loyal Detroit Tigers Fan. Ron was a very sociable person and found to be very enjoyable to be around. What brought him the most joy was spending time with his family.
