FHU honors alumnus with intramural field dedication Lucas Russo was a beloved member of the community that is Freed-Hardeman University when he was a student there before graduating in 2019. He earned two degrees in social work and youth ministry and was a member of a number of different organizations while on campus including Student Government Association, working at Mid-South Youth Camp and playing intramural sports. Last Thursday, the intramural field on FHU’s campus was named in Russo’s honor after he died last fall following complications from surgery. Russo was from Burnsville, Miss., and his parents – Beverly and Richard Russo, Sr. – were on hand for the dedication along with FHU President David Shannon and Adam Cross, the university’s regional development director that coordinated the fundraising activities.
