Posted By: Megan Reyna Several crews with Huntsville Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at a construction site Saturday night.  It happened at the area of Old Gurley Road and Voyager Lane around 6 p.m. District Chief David Whitman with HFR told WAAY 31 a three-story apartment building under construction was fully engulfed with flames.  Whitman said wind likely caused the fire to spread. Nine units responded to the scene. No one was at the site when the fire started.  The cause is still under investigation.  Related Content

Updated: 5:05 PM EDT April 7, 2021 NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. A Niagara Falls roofer has pleaded guilty to scamming his customers, according to the Erie County District Attorney s Office. David Whitman, 31, pleaded guilty on April 1 to one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree, a class E felony. The District Attorney s Office says between March 30, 2019, and September 10, 2019, Whitman collected $22,000 in deposits from five different customers to perform roof repairs, but he never performed any work on the homes. The victims homes were located in Cheektowaga, Depew, Derby and Williamsville. According to the District Attorney s Office, Whitman is the sole owner and operator of Whitman Metal and Roofing.

(WKBW) — Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says a Niagara Falls man has pleaded guilty to one count of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree after admitting to scamming roofing customers between March and September 2019. According to the district attorney s office, 31-year-old David Whitman admitted to scamming five customers in Erie County of $22,000 in deposits, after failing to perform roofing duties on their homes in Cheektowaga, Depew, Derby, and Williamsville.
