New Strain Of COVID Found In North Carolina
(Raleigh, NC) A new strain of COVID-19 is now in North Carolina. The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed yesterday that a variant first reported in South Africa last fall has been identified in one COVID-19 case from the central part of the state. Like the U.K. strain, it is also considered to be more contagious than most cases confirmed in the U.S. during the pandemic. Health officials have recently suggested wearing two cloth masks to help reduce transmission.

Updated: 10:17 PM EST Feb 11, 2021 WXII12.com Web Staff Federal prosecutors have charged a North Carolina man with threatening to kill President Joe Biden.According to a news release from the U.S Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, David Reeves, 27, of Gastonia was charged with threatening the president of the United States.Reeves was arrested on Feb. 5 and had an arraignment hearing Thursday morning.Prosecutors allege Reeves contacted the White House switchboard by phone several times between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1 and made threats against Biden and others.During one call, Reeves is accused of saying, “I am going to - kill you all, the White House. I am going to chop your heads off.” The criminal complaint alleges that a Secret Service agent contacted Reeves on Feb. 1 to discuss the threats, and he repeatedly called the agent back throughout the day, and repeated the threats against the president, the agents and others.According to cha
