During a traffic stop on Wednesday, a Wendell, North Carolina, couple was arrested and charged with murdering a six-month pregnant North Carolina mother of two. The body was found stuffed in a suitcase off the shoreline of a North Carolina river earlier this week.
Brittany Smith, 28, was reported missing several days before her body was found stuffed in a suitcase. She was six months pregnant with a baby boy, according to reports. The body was found off the shoreline of Neuse River in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. First responders were tipped off by officers of the Wake County Sheriff’s Office after several days of desperate search efforts. The suitcase containing her remains was discovered near the river, just outside of Raleigh.

A Wendell, North Carolina, couple was arrested Wednesday (Feb. 10) on charges of murdering a pregnant, 28-year-old African-American woman, who went missing on February 4.
According to CBS 17, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office arrested
Thomas Clayton Johnson, 37, and
Emmalei Grace Trevathan, 24, during a traffic stop in Raleigh. The pair was booked into the Wake County Detention Center. They are being held without bond on charges of murder, murder of an unborn child and concealment of a body. The couple appeared in court on February 11.
