THE latest annual competition to be judged by Northallerton Camera Club took on a slightly different twist in this Covid-stricken year. Each year the members are invited to produce an AV (Audio Visual) presentation and a very nice silver trophy goes to the winner, as voted for by their peers. The maximum duration of each show was increased from four minutes to seven this year, as the entry is low enough to accommodate this – the entry for 2021 was nine presentations – a good hour s worth. The voting slips had been emailed to all members and, on the night, about 30 tuned in to Zoom, ready to be entertained. All good so far. This is a popular competition in the clubhouse, when, as the lights dim and the chattering stops, everyone is soon wondering who produced that sequence of wonderful landscapes, who had the imagination to have everyone rolling in their seats laughing (usually David Lock!) and was that John Webster whose AV brimmed with sparkling icebergs?
